Preparing and Tagging Instructions

Look at your items - clothes - toys - shoes - games - books - dvd's - outdoor toys - whatever.  Just see what you have that you want to sell.  Pull out your best items - items that you would purchase yourself.  Price your items fair - expect about 25% - 30% of what you paid for ithe item.  Think about the current economy - people are looking for bargins.  Please check out www.cpsc.gov to make sure the items you are re-selling do not have issues.

PREPARATION:

You will need plastic or wire coated hangers (10 are about $1.25) - LARGE safety pins - index cards - (if handwriting tags) - 60 or 65 lb. card stock COPY paper - (if printing tags) - and baggies if you have anything that needs to go in one  - such as shoes - small toys - things you don't want to get separated.  Please use size appropriate  hangers and ONLY use safety pins.   Newborn-size 8 will need to be on child sized hangers, and children size 10 and up will need to be on regular size hangers.

WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT THE PINS BE LARGE ENOUGH TO GO THROUGH CLOTHING AND AROUND THE HANGER.  This helps to insure that your items do not end up on the floor. Your items must be on plastic or coated wire hangers with the opening looking like a question mark (?) when the garment is facing you.  Tags must be placed on the upper right side of the garment ( when the garment is facing you - again the hanger looks like a (?).

Shirts/Dresses should be place on size appropriate hangers - with the shirt facing you - you want the hanger to look like a (?)- this way they are all facing the same direction.  Pin the shirt at the shoulders to the hanger - this will keep it off the floor when people shop.  Pin the tag to the upper right shoulder of the garment.

Pants/Skirts/Shorts should be pinned to the top of the hanger so they do not fall off (please do not fold over hangers). You want  the hanger to look like a (?).  Pin the tag to the upper right side of the garment.

Coordinating Outfits should be attached.  Use safety pins to attach coordinating outfits together on a single hanger or with a hanger that has an attached pant hanger.  Hang the shirt then pin the pants/skirts/shorts to the back of the shirt at shoulders.  Attach any accessory the same way. Pin the tag to the upper right side of the garment.

Shoes must be attached together (ribbon/zip ties/yarn) and a piece of masking tape placed on the bottom of each shoe with your consignor # and price.  We strongly recommend shoes also be placed in a Ziploc bag to insure they are not separated or lost. Pin the tag to the outside of the bag on the upper right side.  Remember youth size 6 is the biggest shoe size we take.

Toys and large items should be tagged on the upper right side of the item.  If you can not attach a safety pin to the item you can tape the tag to it  - but PLEASE not across the barcode.      Suggestions:  Puzzles/ Games are kept together easily by putting "cling wrap" around them, then attach tag with safety pin on the right upper side.  Toys with lots of small pieces should be placed in large "baggies" to keep them from being lost - also TAPE across the top of the baggie to keep it closed and attach tag with safety pin to the right upper side.  Please check out www.cpsc.org to make sure items do not have issues.

Bedding and Nursery Items should be tagged on the right upper side of the item.  If possible place the items in large "baggies" to keep them together.  If you can not attach a safety pin to the item you can tape the tag to the bag - but PLEASE not across the barcode.

Car Seats:  We are having a Represenative from Arkansas Children's Hospital check all car seats prior to the sale to help us insure they are safe and have not been recalled.  If they are found unsafe, or have been recalled they will be pulled from the floor prior to the event opening.

Unacceptable car seat examples:

A car seat older than 5 years - check the bottom - there is a date stamped there.

A car seat that has been recalled - check out www.carseat.org/recalls/179np.pdf

A car seat that has been involved in any accident.

A car seat that has seen its "better days " - they must be clean and free of tears/stains/etc

If your car seat passes all the above then safety pin the tag to the upper right side of the car seat.
